Extra CD Ripper is an audio-CD ripping solution for Windows. It allows you to convert the songs on an audio CD to MP3, WAV, or OGG. It supports ID3 tags, so you can add specific information about your albums that will be inserted into all the songs that you convert. You can add information about the Artist, Album, Year, and Genre. There is also support for CDDB, which is a web service that hosts information about virtually every CD ever recorded. If you enable this feature, the CD ripper will connect to Internet and try to retrieve information about your CD. It will even get the names of the songs for you. Formatting of file names is quite limited. A proxy server can also be used to access the CDDB feature.
Extra CD Ripper supports encoding of files with VBR (variable bitrate). Depending on the type of audio files that you convert this might be a good thing to use or not. If you are converting your Audio CD to MP3 files, you can use one of the many quality profiles included. There are custom profiles for media players, phones, etc.
Performance-wise, Extra CD Ripper does a good job of converting CDs. In my tests, an old 74-minute CD that I had lying around was fully converted in less than 5 minutes. One thing that I am compelled to point out is the exorbitant price tag on this app. There are bunches of CD rippers that are more complete than this and are absolutely free.
